In UE1 students tackle three knowledge domains - Foundational, Applications, and Practical – as they gather the skills and confidence necessary to safely address every inspection task.
The Foundational Knowledge domain lays the footings for understanding ultrasound and its significant role as the first line of defense against unplanned downtime, energy waste, and unsustainable practices.
The Applications Knowledge domain connects the dots between foundational knowledge and how condition monitoring technicians use ultrasound to advance reliability of their assets while creating a winning culture.
The Practical Knowledge domain ties foundational and applications to the actual hardware and software technicians use every day in-the-field. Putting knowledge into practice engages and empowers inspectors with the skills they need to apply ultrasound solutions in the field and office.

This course focuses on hardware and software knowledge, engaging and empowering the skills required for inspectors to use SDT solutions in the field, and in the office.

Getting to know your LUBExpert instrument is the sole purpose of the LUBExpert 1 module. Your instructor begins with an overview of the 12-button keypad on the front of the device, and then finally the sensor plate, the bottom plate, and all pertinent information to manage the device completely.

In the previous module we discovered the outside elements of the LUBExpert instrument. The front and back plates as well as the 12-button keypad. In this module, your instructor continues to explore the LUBExpert instrument by working through the different on-screen reactions to button pushes. The LUBExpert Virtual Simulation software is an interactive tool that is as close to real life as actually being there. He will connect his LUBExpert to his PC and share with you the button pushes and screen reactions in real time. This advanced training simulation software is available to our customers free of charge.

In a previous module we went over performing ultrasound grease replenishment with your LUBExpert device in the field. In this module we upload our bearing relubrication data to UAS3 and perform our analysis using SDT’s 4 Condition Indicators… plus a new indicator that should also be trended by a lubrication teams.

In the UAS3 for LUBExpert module you will learn basic housekeeping tasks required to initially set up UAS3 software to work symbiotically with your LUBExpert instrument. Understanding where UAS stores your asset and measurement data is as important as naming your Data Folders and individual Data Trees. Your instructor takes you through the fundamental steps of creating your asset hierarchy, creating lube surveys, and making a logical walking order through your facility.
